Adobe Max Europe- Post Day Training Sucked
I'm not typically the type of person post rants but I'm really quite pissed at the moment so here goes.
/rantOn
I just spent the day in "Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR): Bringing Rich Internet Applications to the Desktop" post day session, and what turned out to be quite possibly the worst training I have ever had.
Our "Instructor" was not the scheduled instructor for the class and also told us that he was not prepared or a certified Adobe Instructor and on top of all that it was his first time instructing ever!
He did tell us that he is a Flex/AIR developer and is working on the E-Bay AIR project. I am sure he knows his stuff, but come on every one of us who attended that course paid between 600 and 700 Euros and expected a certain level of quality, and at least someone who is an Adobe Certified Instructor!
I'm not sure when he was informed he was replacing the original instructor or even when he received the course materials but it was painfully obvious he never read through the materials before class.
To top it all off, this course is a condensed version of a 3 day course, and we were the test subjects to determine if it needed to be tweaked.
well Adobe IT NEEDS TO BE TWEAKED!, and unless you are offering the course for free how about providing a certified instructor next time hmm? /rantOff

Now we could blame the replacement speakers, but I think that would be a little unfair. After all, we're not sure exactly when they found out they were going to take over.
I can state that I had a weeks notice that I was presenting the ColdFusion Server Monitoring and Troubleshooting talk. As I know and teach this sort of material already, I'd like to think the talk went down fairly well - time will tell with the feedback, but I know there were some other speakers who were really dumped in the deepend.
Utimately we need to give Adobe constructive feedback on all our experiences at MAX, whether good or bad.
Paying 600 or 700 euros for a training event and it all going wrong is a bad experience, and rightly be annoted at it, but give Adobe as much construcitve feedback as you can.
We are looking into what happened, how to rectify it, and ensure that it does not happen again in the future.
