Winamp 5.5 beta
A lot of folks in my office here in Munich use Winamp over iTunes. It just seems to be more accepted than iTunes. It might be that iTunes won't let you connect and sync with two different computers, or it might be that they just want a player not all the other things that come with iTunes. Or it may be that Winamp "really whips the Llamas ass"?
Winamp was the first MP3 player I ever installed on my computer way back when the first one came out (93?). So I decided to give it another go and installed the 5.35 version. It's a relatively simple install and what was really important was that it recognized my iPod as soon as I plugged it up.
I was able to able to immediately start playing songs contained on my iPod and also sync up my local music to my IPod, and no message about my iPod being registered to another computer.
They also have their 5.5 version out as a beta. I did have a few problems syncing to my iPod but they may have fixed that problem with preview 2.
You can download the free 5.35 version for yourself or try the beta 5.5 version.

I haven't used Winamp for 5 years orso, but since I haven't really found any player that I feel very happy with, I decided to try the 5.5 beta a couple of weeks ago, and it seems very nice... it now has a very usable unified UI skin too.
That makes the difference, in my opinion.

I like very much the classic version of Winamp. I really do not like the the latest versions...the themes are not very interesting.
Also, I think that Winamp is just an addiction that came from Windows. There are many other players that are really good.
