Max Europe 08 Attendance Numbers

So now that I am actually going to make I'm taking a bit more of an interest in how things are progressing. We already know that MAX America was a success and was again sold out, if I recall correctly.

What we don't know is how the numbers are shaping up for MAX Europe? I remember the actual number of available tickets was somewhere in the range of 1200 and that the plan this year was to increase that a bit.

So the questions are: Are we expecting a sold out venue again this year? Has the financial crisis put a hold on all spending? Is it too close to Christmas for the Europeans?

Inquiring minds want to know! Well at least I do anyway. Anyone in the know care to let me us know?

Cyril's Gravatar Yeah, I'm wondering too because there's not yet real communication on EU numbers compared to the MAX US, and we are at almost 10 days from it. I only know via Serge Jespers that Belgians registrations are on top :-)

Gary's Gravatar Just got word from Ted Patrick that Max Europe has just over 1000 registered attendees. I'm not sure how many tickets are available this year but it should be more than the 1200 from last year.

I for one found the size of last years Max quite nice, over 5k people would be a little overwhelming I think.

Sean Corfield's Gravatar 5,000 people at the San Francisco Moscone Center was far more manageable than you might imagine (JavaOne and some of the other big conferences at that location hit 10,000 people I believe).

MAX Barcelona was a wonderful conference in terms of size and atmosphere but most conferences grow over time so don't be too surprised if MAX Europe also becomes a 5,000 person event at some point!

Chris's Gravatar I do not want to belittle MAX Europe, but, lately Adobe has been giving away free tickets. Makes you wonder about the attendance numbers. I got 3 free tickets... one I raffled away in the user group the other two are still waiting for a new owner. ;-)

Gary's Gravatar Honestly Chris I wouldn't care if Adobe gave away all the tickets and there wasn't one person there that had to pay for more than travel and hotel so long as the quality of the conference remaind the same as it was in Barcelona I would be happy to get a free ticket every year :)
