I recently ordered the book "Design Patterns Explained: A New Perspective on Object-Oriented Design (Software Patterns)" from Amazon.de, well more accurately through the marketplace (read:used). I expect to receive it this week so was a little surprised when our office manager placed a package in my hand that clearly had the dimensions of a book, though a lot smaller than I anticipated.
I opened the package and was surprised to find Critical Chain: A Business Novel", by Eliyahu M. Goldratt. I hadn't ordered this book, but I know it's on my wish-list so I checked the shipping slip and found that it was ordered by Christoph Schmitz the manager of the Munich CFUG.
Christoph has, since I met him in Barcelona at MAX 2007, managed to breath some new life into the Munich CFUG (it looked a bit abandoned when I arrived in German at the end of 2006). We recently received a much needed face-lift and are having pretty regular meetings (I presented at the meeting last month).
Not being one to "look a gift horse in the mouth", nor question why a gift was received I would simply like to say:
Vielen Dank Chris
