iPhone Interchangeable Camera Lenses

Just when you thought the line between a cell phone and a camera couldn't get any blurrier comes the iPhone case SIMPLEX sold by Factron. The case is made from duralumin,an Aluminium alloy typically used for Aircraft Manufacture, and tricked out with the ability to accept a special lens mount.

So what are you going to do with this iPhone body? Other than having a cool looking iPhone, you can purchase an array of interchangeable lenses that plug-in to the Duraluminium body from fish-eye to macro lenses.

The question that comes to my mind is "OMG why?". Several of my colleagues who own an iPhone have told me that the quality of the camera is not exactly the best. The iPhone 3GS model, with its 3 Mege Pixel camera, is an improvement over it's predecessor the 3G but is it worth forking out over $200 for the body just to pack on some cheap camera lenses (prices range from 19.95 to 59.95)?

Sure you probably always have your phone on you but are you going to carry around a lens to get a close up shot with your phone, or bring along a pocket camera which is designed for taking photos?
