Asynchronous Google Analytics

Google announced via their Google Code Blog On December 1, 2009 that they have now implemented an Asynchronous Tracking code. Anyone who uses Google Analytics to track visitors to their site knows how important a feature this is.

Sometimes the tracking of a visitor can affect how quickly a page loads, which incorrectly reflects the "true" speed of the website. Additionally problems may arise if the tracking code is executed before the JavaScript file hasn't fully loaded. With asynchronous tracking this problem is at least reduced.

..most browsers will load the tracking code in parallel with other scripts on the page, thus reducing the web page load time.

This new code takes advantage of the HTML 5 "async" attribute, which is currently officially supported by Firefox 3.6 only. Other browsers will simply ignore this attribute.

Happy Coding...
