Online Backup Service Zoogmo to close

Zoogmo, a peer-to-peer backup service has announced that they will be shutting down and going offline at the end of this year.

Online backup services have a lot of benefits for consumers but what happens when your backup service closes shop? For Zoogmo customers this question is suddenly very important.

By December 31, customers of Zoogmo will have to figure out where to house their backups, and more importantly how to get their backups. Being a peer-to-peer backup service the backup data of a customer is not stored in a central location but distributed on other customers machines (encrypted naturally). Users can choose who will be in their pool of backup machines via a instant messenger like friends list, the Zoogmo program then manages the distribution of the data.

Unfortunately the concept just didn't pan out for Zoogmo.
