Intel Mac and EXTFS
MacOS X is "Linux", at least that is what every Mac Fanboy has told me since OS 9 went the way of the Dodo. But the more I use OS X at the command line the more I bump into limitations.
Perhaps the limitations are self made, in that they aren't really limiations per se but perhaps merely my ignorance of the Mac OS.
Take extfs and it's lack of support in OSX. Sure there is a project on sourceforge that adds support for the ext file system but an important feature such as being able to resize a partition are not available. Trying to re-size a 1TB ext partition on a SuSE virtual machine running in VMware Fusion didn't seem to work (I let it try to re-size the partition for 12 hours).
I'm not asking Apple to make any fancy GUI tools for all manner of Unix/Linux abilities as I don't have a problem jumping out into the terminal to do the heavy lifting, I just want those things to be there so I can use them.
I don't have a big wish list yet but I am sure I'm not the only one that wants more Linux/Unix tools (read free) to be available for OS X
