iPhone Navi Software Now Available!

The first "professional" navigation software for the iPhone is now available for purchase from Apples Appstore. The App is made by company NAVIGON and is claiming to be the "first professional navigation solution for the iPhone".

NAVIGON also produces navigation software for WindowsMobile, and the Symbian.

Some Features the NAVIGON iPhone App include:

  • 2D/3D Map display
  • Display in both horizontal and Vertical modes
  • Reality View Pro (Real display of intersections and highway exits)
  • Speed signs with visual and audio warnings
  • Day and Night modes
  • Access to your iPhone address book
  • NAVTEQ Maps with over 2million Points of Interest
The App weights in at about 1.7 GB with the maps and costs currently about 75 Euros.

Apparently TomTom is also planning on releasing a navigation App for the iPhone in the near future.

This is good news for people who don't have a data plan and were relying on data heavy Navigation Apps, or traveling outside of their plan area or out of data range.

Just buy a car holder for your iPhone (about 25Euros) and drive.

The included maps are currently only for Europe.

Gary's Gravatar Oh there is definetly turn by turn audio but I never bothered mentioning it as I figured it a must for any "professional" navigation software or unit.
