Aargh Me Matey's!!!

This just in, oh how I love politics, the German political party Piratenpartei (yes folks that translates to "The Pirate Party") has just won the right to run in the next German elections.

Although they don't yet have the required signatures in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, im Saarland, Sachsen-Anhalt und Thüringen, it appears certain that the Pirates will be making a concerted attempt to get a seat in government.

The Pirate party is exactly what you think the modern day term means, though not only about software piracy. It means, among other things:

  • The right to determine the use of your personal data
  • The abolishment of patent law
  • Open Access to Government sponsored research and development.
  • and much more
It's a pity that they don't have an English version of their website, it would, I am sure, prove an interesting read for you.

salvatore fusto's Gravatar yes, as you describe them, they could become a transnational movement: a multilanguage site is a must.
